National Urban Fellowship: Selected as one of 26 fellows from across the nation to pursue an accelerated master’s degree in public administration. Mentored by UMEZ’s executive team to perform economic development activities in East Harlem, Harlem, Inwood, and Washington Heights. Strategic Planning: Created a Strategic Plan for UMEZ to help the organization determine how to weather the current economic climate in order to remain a fixture in the community. The plan provides a blueprint for UMEZ to determine how the organization might use fewer resources to continue providing financial support to grantees and borrowers.Grantmaking: Authored requests for proposals for new health care workforce development funding initiatives. Crafted reporting tools, such as templates for statistical and narrative summaries, to prepare current workforce development division grantees in how to respond to government funders.Project Management: Developed workplans and timelines for the executive team to assess and monitor the redevelopment of a commercial property on Harlem’s main business corridor. These grants covered a spectrum of services, from teen pregnancy prevention and health education to early childhood education, teacher professional development to place-based initiatives, after school programming to whole school reform projects.
