When I was a child I never thought to become scientist. But now that I grow up, I think it is one of the most interesting works in life (and most of the time I don't call it work!) since you are always studing, learning and trying to build a better world. This is even more true when you are a scientifist in environmental field, where so many problems need to be investigated and solved. This is why I consider tme a privileged person when I do the work I loved, and I am also contributing to a better and sustainable future.I start with a degree on Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, but then I decided to learn and focus my research on air pollution field. That's why I made my master degree and my PhD in Environmental Science at the University of Aveiro (2007), where exist the only research grupo on air quality modelling in Portugal . During my professional career, I was Assistant Professor at Universidade de Aveiro from 2008 until 2015, and I am presently a Researcher at this University, belonging to the CESAM - Centre for Environment and Marine Studies - associated laboratory, where I am the coordinator of the research group APM (Atmospheric Process and Modelling) composed by more than 20 researchers. The high number of SCI papers published (>100), and also the high participation in scientific conferences with oral presentation (>40) are, probably, a proof of the recognition and appreciation of the research work developed during the last 2 decades. I have also participated in several EU and national funded projects, being the coordinator of several FCT projects and also the national coordinator of the ongoing H2020 and a TWINNING project. I am also participating in the stteering comittee of european research networks (like FAIRMODE (https://fairmode.jrc.ec.europa.eu) and COST Action (https://cost-indust.eu), which is giving me the opportunity to embrace new collaborations, new projects and more important than that, new scientific challenges, which - in my opinion - are the main drivers for a scientist motivation.
