I am a consultant in plastic surgery at Buckinghamshire NHS Trust and the clinical lead for burns care in adults and children. My plastic surgery training was in London, Yorkshire and Australia, I passed my FRCS(Plast) in 2012.During my training, I completed a research degree (MD) and have continued to produce research throughout my career, most recently focused on microsurgery, burns care and Laser treatment for scars. I completed specialist fellowship training in Melbourne and Perth, Australia (2012-2014). These fellowships were focused on reconstructive microsurgery (St Vincent's, The Royal Melbourne and Western hospitals in Melbourne) and burns care in adults and children (The Alfred hospital, Melbourne - Victoria Adult Burns Service). These were followed by a specialist burns fellowship treating adults and children with the Western Australia Burns Service - mentored by Professor Fiona Wood and Prof Suzanne Rea. I went on to work at consultant-level for the Western Australia Burns Service for a further 6 months, until being appointed to my first UK consultant post (locum) in Nottingham. This provided a fantastic experience - with a great team - working in burns, head & neck cancer, sarcoma and trauma reconstruction. My permanent consultant position at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Buckinghamshire, is focused on the acute care of adults and children with burn injuries, the care of patients requiring reconstruction for complex wounds, following malignancy, with abdominal wall problems and following spinal injuries. I run a multi-disciplinary specialised scar clinic for patients suffering from the problematic sequelae of burns and have also set-up a Laser service to support and enhance the recovery of patients with troublesome scarring. I am absolutely passionate about delivering high-quality, safe care. Excellent team-work is at the very centre of my ethos.
