After moving back to Australia 9 years ago, I am now furthering my career in orchestral management with the Adelaide Concert Orchestra.I am a professional violinist, International Baccalaureate Primary Years music teacher and qualified string specialist with over 20 years’ experience on stage and in the classroom. For over 15 years, I played as a 1st violinist under the direction of Maestro Ludwig Wicki and the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra at KKL in Luzern, Switzerland. We specialised in film music concerts locally and internationally, many programs of which are now performed by other top orchestras all over the world. As an active member of the orchestral committee, I enjoyed working in a team organising the growth, development and running of the string sections, as well as local and international events. As a string specialist I encourage students to pursue academic excellence in the performing arts, through dedication and enjoyment of learning a musical instrument. My objective is for students to acquire high technical ability on their instrument while maintaining their individual musical style to produce a wonderful tone. I promote music examinations, participation in ensembles, orchestral groups and performing regularly in class, at school and for local concerts. In Australia and Switzerland, I gained extensive experience planning and implementing string programs, conducting ensembles and directing concerts and theatrical performances.My IB experience at ISZL includes designing, planning and implementing a PYP music curriculum, incorporating ability levelled differentiation and tailoring authentic links to classroom curriculum. I highly value the importance of an ongoing commitment to professional development and life-long learning. I feel that the key to running a successful music program is continued communication with students and parents as well as between the arts faculty and whole school division.
