My name is Alexandra Rodriguez, and I am a passionate premed student at Cornell University. Coming from a vibrant Mexican and Puerto Rican household, I was able to develop a unique perspective from my blend of cultures that allowed me to not only identify and appreciate the differences of cultures but also call California and Puerto Rico my home. I am also the oldest sibling to two rambunctious younger siblings; carrying the mantle as their natural protector is what guided me to considering a career in medicine.I am the first person in my immediate family to pursue the vocation of a physician and I am figuring out and learning from my journey each day. Whether it be designing experiments to promote STEM education, going to a science class, or interacting with patients, no two days are the same. Although the life and journey as a premed has had it ups and downs, I am grateful to even have the opportunity and chance to be able to pursue this career.
