After twenty-five years as a tapestry and carpet conservator at The Textile Conservation Centre, Hampton Court Palace and more latterly as Consultant at Clarke Conservation with clients such as The National Gallery, National Trust, English Heritage and Christie's Auction House I sought a significant change so that I might work one-to-one with young people.I worked for 18 months at a pre-school whilst undertaking PTA chair at my sons primary school. I also undertook voluntary work with the school delivering literacy support. I trained in Supported Teaching & Learning in Schools (STliS: Level 3). I was Learning Support Assistant at St. George's Academy, Sleaford for five years with responsibility for dyslexia intervention and coordinated a Young Carers Club. Promotion followed as Key Stage 4 English Learning Mentor for two years working with vulnerable pupils through the Pupil Premium programme in which I also provided support within the Breakfast Club. In 2019 I started my Professional Studies degree in Childhood and Youth with Joint Negotiating Committee pathway. Throughout my time at Bishop Grosseteste University I have worked part-time at Access Creative College as Learning Support & Pastoral Worker with: Designated Safeguarding Lead, Youth Mental Health First Aider, Mental Health Champion, and Exams Officer responsibilities. In September 2021 I became Senior Additional Learning Support Tutor and will deliver a newly created programme of PSHE in September 2022.
