Profile bio

About Alexandra Sturm

I am Junior Biomedical Engineering student studying at MSOE and graduating in 2025. I have had internship experience as a Quality Control Intern at 3D Molecular designs and have worked on numerous team-based academic projects as well as participated in student orgs. I have skills in MATLAB, SOLIDWORKS, and Microsoft Office. Please feel free to reach out to me at sturma@msoe.edu, via message, or at 908-300-1172. I have always held interest in science and design, and with that a general sense of career path, but it was not until my senior year of high school that I finally found biomedical engineering. This field allows me to pursue and incorporate knowledge from a variety of engineering disciplines to solve problems and help people. I am particularly excited by the specialties relating to biomaterials engineering and similar applications involving in depth integration within the human body. Beyond my curiosity and intellectual interest, the idea that I will be able to participate in a project that will improve peoples' lives is what motivates me as an engineer and a biomed to continue to push myself for personal and technical development. I first heard of MSOE from researching engineering colleges in my senior year. The university's emphasis on hands on learning, as well as small class sizes, and an academically challenging curriculum is what lead me to choose MSOE. My course work has allowed me to gain hands on experimental experience in a variety of disciplines whilst also challenging and engaged me with the material. Beyond this, MSOE’s close knit yet interpersonally diverse community has provided me the opportunity to engage with people on a scope that I never would have foreseen upon leaving high school. Since then, I joined the MSOE’s choir and Theatre Troupe. Participating in both groups pushed me beyond my boundaries and allowed me to begin branching out. I participated in these organizations for about two years, and in that time, I was part of tech crew, I was an actor in a show, and I held a leadership role as secretory. After all of that I switched gears and joined MSOE’s NASA Lunabotics team. On this team we follow a system engineering process to design, test, and build a lunar capable rover. As of now I am a member of the electrical sub team, the team's sponsorship coordinator, and the vice president. Through my diverse experiences I have learned to be adaptable and flexible under a wide array of circumstances and still reliably meet demands.
