ALEXANDRA WEILENMANN is Professor of Interaction Design at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden and head of division of Human Computer Interaction at the same department. She has many years’ experience studying mobile IT use and has undertaken fieldwork in many situations involving mobile technologies, involving user groups such as museum visitors, teenagers, journalists and hunters.Doctoral degree 2003Associate Professor 2009 (Swedish: docent)Professor 2019During 2018-2021 Weilenmann was PI on the project Digital seniors, funded by the Kamprad Family Foundation. During 2013-2015 she was PI on a project on mobile communication, financed by the Swedish Research Council and the Centre for Language Technology, GU. During 2010-2012 Weilenmann was awarded a VinnMer Fellow grant from VINNOVA, working with two national centers of excellence: Mobile Life Centre at Stockholm University and LinCS at GU. During 2007, Weilenmann coordinated a VINNOVA funded project on mobile phone use among the elderly, in collaboration with the Swedish National Pensioners’ Organization (PRO), the Swedish Handicap Institute (HI) and the Swedish IT & Telecom Industries. During 2005-2006 Weilenmann lead a research project on the role of paper and digital resources in office work, funded by Ricoh Japan R&D.Weilenmann served on VINNOVA’s program board for ICT 2006-2009. Expert member of Aging Population Telecom Expert Group, 2009-2011. Conference committee member and/or senior paper committee for several conferences within Human-Computer Interaction and Associate Editor for the Journal of Personal and Ubiquitous Computing. Weilenmann has published in a number of journals, e.g. International Journal of Human Computer Interaction, Journal of Pragmatics, Journal of Personal and Ubiquitous Computing, and Environment and Planning A. In addition to journal publications, she frequently participates and presents peer reviewed full papers at highly ranked conferences.Dr Weilenmann’s research has been widely recognized in media, in over 100 news paper articles, magazines, radio and TV shows. She frequently participates in public outreach activities.
