I am working on the Lawsuit Summarization Project, summarizing and coding civil rights lawsuits against NYPD officers for Legal Aid’s Law Enforcement Look Up (LELU) database.Law Enforcement Look Up (LELU) is a look-up application developed by the Data team at LegalAid Society, designed to facilitate user-access to multiple sources of NYPD misconduct data asthey become available following the repeal of 50-A. Lawsuit summarization enhances one such source, a city-provided record of civil actions against the police department, by giving users snapshots of lawsuits and allowing them to search lawsuits by allegation, force type, and other attributes.I am part of a dedicated team of volunteers summarizing and coding lawsuits against NYPD officers, which helps public defenders, civil rights lawyers, journalists, and community advocates investigate and pursue accountability for police misconduct.

I taught Maths and English to small groups of pupils aged 7-11 years. My responsibilities included reviewing socioeconomic data on attainment gaps and low achievement to ascertain the most effective intervention. I also conducted specialised sessions for gifted and talented students in the upper and lower school (aged 6-11 years).

I observed two complete trials during this mini pupillage. I shadowed Christopher Martin prosecuting a trial and sentencing for possession of class A drugs at Chelmsford Crown Court. I also shadowed James Morrison prosecuting a trial for racially aggravated common assault at Woolwich Crown Court. During this experience I shadowed Vedrana Pehar at Basildon Crown Court in a sentencing for a common assault and an appeal against a driving ban. I was also able to observe other members of chambers during a cross-examination of a witness in an attempted murder trial at this court.

I prepared work for Tunde Okewale in chambers. This included providing a summary of the witness statements in a case of possession of firearms and possession and intent to supply class A drugs. I also created a document outlining the evidence for and against each count of the indictment.

I shadowed Henrietta Hill QC in a coroner's inquest into the death of a man alleged to have committed suicide by hanging. The inquest was held in Crawley Town Hall.

I shadowed Henrietta Hill QC in an appeal in a case of an allegedly discriminatory arrest in the Court of Appeal.

Shadowed Courtenay Griffiths QC in a murder trial at the Old Bailey.

I marshalled Recorder Robert Rhodes at a trial and sentencing at Snaresbrook Crown Court. I shadowed Christopher Wilson-Smith QC in a clinical negligence conference and shadowed David Westcott QC and Sarah Crowther in a clinical negligence conference. My work included preparing a synopsis for Fiona Scolding on a Judicial Review case for a passport application. During this mini pupillage, I also participated in an advocacy exercise; cross examined a witness. I engaged in an ethics debate directed by Head of Chambers, Michael Bowes QC, and took part in a discussion on the future of the law with the Director of Outer Temple, Christine Kings.

I shadowed Leslie Thomas QC on a police misconduct trial at the High Court.

I shadowed CPS barrister Heidi Stonecliffe in sentencing proceedings at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Shadowed barrister Jonathan Foy in criminal proceedings at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

I shadowed Paul Jarvis throughout a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court and I shadowed Timothy Cray on a murder trial at the Old Bailey. I also shadowed Duncan Penny QC on a terrorism appeal at the Court of Appeal.

I shadowed five barristers: Hector Maclean-Watt, Amiot Vollenweider, Natalie Foster, Bernard Eaton and Stephanie Wookey. This exposed me to a range of areas of law including crime, personal injury and commercial law. I attended cases at Inner London Crown Court, Snaresbrook Crown Court, Bow County Court, and Central London County Court.

Managed a team of three academic mentors (current university students) and 27 A-level students (aged 16-17 years). Responsible for the safety and behaviour of the college aged students. Lead university-aged mentors in a variety of tasks and conducted 6 staff meetings.

Atalanta's Society is an elite sportswomen's society at the University of Oxford. My responsibilities include approving membership, identifying potential members and encouraging talented sportswomen to join.

Conducted research on the effect of police shootings of African American people on young peoples' attitudes to the police. The research took place in Rhode Island, New Jersey, Baltimore and Chicago for my undergraduate thesis. This included surveying and interviewing young people about their views and experiences, and asking them scenario based questions. It also involved arranging interviews with academics and position-holders in organisations such as the National Urban League.

Mentored 6th form students in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and assisted their applications for Oxford. Singularly responsible for ten students throughout their residential visit. Engaged with Child Protection training and learnt about the importance of disclosures and how to react appropriately.

My responsibilities included corresponding with other related societies, such as the African and Caribbean Society, and organising events. I organised African and Caribbean food nights, film screenings, and African music nights. I had to liaise with external organisations and individuals in order to do this. This involved finding and booking a venue, inviting speakers and performers, recruiting volunteers, contacting guests, and preparing food and drink.

Worked with the Asylum Strategy Policy Team for 10 weeks. Corresponded via both letter and email to members of the public enquiring about the "Calais migration crisis". Participated in strategy meetings with senior members of the civil service and gave a presentation on the current statistics of Asylum seekers in the U.K. Updated the Modern Slavery and human trafficking guidance online and this document was published. Prepared a report for the Home Secretary on Asylum Seekers' maintenance support. Assisted colleagues in meetings with NGOs and provided minutes.

My responsibilities included chairing the equal opportunity representatives of the JCR (LGBTQ, ethnic minorities, international students and women's representatives); creating and distributing surveys about inequality at the university; setting up and organising compulsory diversity and equal opportunity workshops for students during Welcome Week; and representing the views of students to college staff.

My responsibilities included visiting 'disadvantaged' comprehensive schools to encourage students to apply to the University of Oxford. As the chair of this scheme, I helped to train new ambassadors by running training sessions twice a term. I also helped with in-college access work such as giving tours of college and meeting with prospective students.

My main responsibility in this role was to visit primary and secondary schools in order to encourage people to apply to the University of Oxford. I also offered prospective students tours of the university, talks about college life at Oxford, and specialised PPE academic workshops.

Supported children aged 7 to 11 years old in Maths and English lessons. Provided one-to-one teaching for students struggling to achieve level four in SATS practice. Conducted gifted and talented 'moral philosophy' sessions for children in each year group.

Engaged in a mock consultancy case, in which we worked to provide solutions for a failing hotel. Presented to an audience of peers and a panel of current BCG consultants.

My responsibilities included talking to prospective students about preparing for applying to the University of Oxford, and helping them make decisions about the course they choose. I also ran a session for students on studying PPE at Oxford.
