I worked in corporate sales at Dell Technologies for seven years, before a near-death accident prompted me to reevaluate my life. I pivoted to human interest journalism, and then strategic communications...Professionally, I wear several hats now: journalist, book author, content strategist. But if I were to boil it down to one word, I'd call myself a storyteller at heart. Dad was the OG king of hooks. He sparked my passion for storytelling with this opener at the dinner table, "Do you know that I used to climb trees to catch birds at ... 2 years old?" We dropped our chopsticks, dinner forgotten.Having learned the first principle of storytelling ("start with a powerful hook!"), words have been my playground ever since. At school, I did well in English and my teachers actively encouraged me to write. By 15, I was getting published regularly in the newspapers. But my professional writing journey really began in 2005, after I left a successful corporate career in Dell. Burned out after seven years in a high-pressure working environment, I decided to try my luck at making a living writing. The early days were hard - the phrase "starving artist" was invented for a reason. But I soldiered on. Over time, I managed to build my name as a reliable writer with a fresh, original voice, and became an in-demand journalist and editor among media publications and commercial clients. To name a few things I've done: I was a regular contributor to Going Places, The Star, Women's Weekly and other popular titles. I ghost-wrote half a dozen books and edited many more. I helped homegrown businesses win major business awards. My proudest achievement is the publication of my book Made in Malaysia: Hometown Heroes and Hidden Gems. Throughout my 15 years in journalism, marketing communications and book publishing, I've personally seen how words can drive positive changes, spark discourse and impact lives. After spending the bulk of my professional life with legacy institutions, I've pivoted to focus on digital media and content strategy, thanks partly to the COVID19 pandemic. But my mission remains the same: to change the world, one story at a time. ...What can I do for you? 1️⃣ As a freelance journalist, I focus on human interest subjects and other issues that have human impact such as community based tourism, heritage, sustainability. 2️⃣ As a content strategist, I develop strategies and create content that support my clients' marketing goals, which typically includes brand building, establishing thought leadership and raising visibility.

But now after MCO, he realizes it’s a good thing. Last Christmas, he had enough funds to throw a party for the kampung folks, makan, karaoke & gifts for the children." - John Chan, Nature Guide.Read the story: https://travel.ourbetterworld.org/story/journey/ulu-gerohs-flower-power -
