As legal assistant to these independent attorneys, my main responsibilities are to ensure the organization and professional operation of the office and attorneys’ schedules. I am accountable for appointment scheduling, electronic and paper filing of court documents, secretarial duties and communicating with clientele. Also perform other tasks/jobs/responsibilities as assigned by the attorneys for certain cases. Tasks include organizing miscellaneous medical documents and compiling them into medical summaries; drafting interrogatories and requests for admissions/productions for worker’s compensation cases; preparing and labeling exhibits for trial; compiling and organizing discovery documents for dissolution of marriage cases; drafting billings for clients and drafting probate documents. I am very familiar with programs such as Abacus Law, Adobe Acrobat Pro and TimeSlips. As the sole assistant for the office, I constantly re-prioritize activities/duties to ensure all deadlines are met to ensure the attorneys are supported as efficiently as possible.
