During my time as a teacher's assistant, I was primarily responsible for correcting about 50 students' lab reports for the course EGR 182 - Math Engineering Applications. These were turned in online weekly, and I had approx. a week to correct them and provide feedback to the students. This job involved communication between students and the professor on my part as I reached out to students to assist with homework and to the professor weekly to check in on the quality of my work. The TA role gave me the opportunity to facilitate learning in a beginner’s engineering class.

During my role as a resident advisor, my primary task was to oversee the residents in my living area. Within this job, I acted as a liaison between residents and residence life staff/housing services by being a source of help and information for any scenario that came up. In this way, my leadership and communication skills were significantly put to the test. My confrontation, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills were developed and put to the test. As well as navigating needs and relationships among residents, I served varying roles within my staff. I served as Admin in the fall semester and Social Media Manager in the spring. As Admin, I was responsible for scribing notes at each staff meeting and notifying the staff of important reminders and due dates. As Social Media Manager, I was in charge of the living area's Instagram and marketing events and important dates to residents. As a resident advisor, I had the opportunity to coordinate and plan events, both individually and with the team. I have learned to budget and create a community with staff and residents.

As a structural engineering intern, I have had experience applying concepts learned throughout my university studies. Coffman Engineers serves as both prime consultant and sub consultant on varying projects. As a member of the structural team, I get to work with other specialities within the company such as civil, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and corrosion control, as well as project/construction managers, and professionals in other specialty services. Primary tasks within this role include maintaining proper communication with project managers, running calculations, verifying project components are up to standard building codes, and summarizing work and findings into calculation packages for the general contractor. More specifically, calculations involve checking essential building components such as beam stability, steel framing, mechanical unit placement, footings, stud placement, etc. Checking against building codes includes working with the ASCE 7-16, the AISC Steel Construction Manual (15th Ed), the NDS for Wood Construction, and CBC 2022, to name a few.Working at Coffman has given me the space to learn and grow in my career; increasing my knowledge of commercial, institutional, and industrial structures, learning about computer analysis software systems, and working in a professional fast-paced environment.

Being a member of the steel bridge design team at CBU, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with a team to design and build a steel bridge model. This model is created annually for the ASCE PSWS regional competition. I have had experience in the design, building, and testing phases of a project. Through this experience, I gained experience with welding and operating various lab equipment such as the drill saw press, cold saw, and jet saw. I have been actively using AutoCAD and structural analysis concepts to contribute to the draw-up plans and pre-design. Collaborating with teammates, we determined the type and amount of materials and created a schedule and to-do list in order to get the project completed on time.

Working for KHS&S Contractors, a design-assist specialty building company, I gained valuable insight into the day-to-day of a construction site and learned important budgeting, scheduling, and industry-related developmental skills. My main role as a project engineering intern was to assist with the execution of construction projects - visiting and working multiple projects onsite. On the construction site, my responsibilities included filling out weekly constraint logs, keeping track of daily production rates for onsite employees, gathering data for RFI compositions and submittals, and communicating with foremen and safety instructors for clarification on project progress. When working out of the office, my tasks included coordinating project activities to ensure quality, budgeting, and scheduling.

The primary project I was assigned to work on was the construction of The Villas at Disneyland Resort. Working at Disney a couple of times a week, I frequented the site and developed a better understanding of how the building process works as I observed it in action. My job included documenting issues onsite through constraint logs, communicating with foremen for clarification on items, and drafting/gathering data for RFIs. Not only did I learn basic construction site necessities through this project, but I also had the chance to work on a high-profile job with expectations for top-quality delivery and confidentiality. Working with Disney, I had to go through screening and courses about "keeping the Disney magic" and essentially learn how to practice confidentiality within my involvement with a major project.

My involvement in the UCSD Pepper Canyon prefabrication consisted of working out of the warehouse weekly. KHS&S was tasked with creating prefabricated dorm units in the warehouse that were then shipped to USCD's Pepper Canyon building and then flown in. My personal responsibilities were to keep track of this particular project's production rates. I created a "daily production tracker" excel sheet to keep track of stats tied to project status.

Working as a ride attendant at Wild Rivers, I, foremostly had the opportunity to gain an understanding of the inner workings of an amusement park. This is important as it correlates with my overall career goal of working in the amusement park industry in engineering design. My primary responsibility was to run attractions for the water park guests. In this way, I ensured smooth and safe ride dispatch. Additionally, I facilitated guest relations and assisted with any customer concerns.

Through this engineering project, our primary objective was to create a 3D-printed model of any Riverside building of our choice over the course of 6 weeks. Myself and a team of two others chose the CBU events center to recreate. I was designated CAD lead and promptly divided up the responsibilities for creating the online CAD model. This project led me to understand basic components and actions in CAD (such as 2D drafting, 3D modeling, parametric design, and assembly design) and create a functioning model for successful project results.

This project involved working with a team to crate a robot that utilizes color recognition to perform a specific function. We had 6 weeks to complete this robot - design, build, and implementation. Through this project I was able to again used AutoCAD to create the skeletal frame of the robot. the robots role was to carry cargo (we used peanuts) from a dispenser to a "dog bowl" dish. When our led light flashed blue, the sensor on the robot picked up the signal and moved forward, triggering a series of events that involved a string being pulled, peanuts falling out of the dispenser into the bucket, the robot bringing the bucket to the dog dish, and pouring it in. Each team in the class demonstrated their projects as a part of a robotics competition. My team's project placed 2nd place!
