NYU Shanghai's Dean's Undergraduate Research Fund. Research Topic: Sustaining PuDong’s Economic Growth in the 21st Century. Collaborating with NYU Shanghai Professor Rodrigo Zeidan (https://shanghai.nyu.edu/academics/faculty/directory/rodrigo-zeidan). In my research, I will critically evaluate the methodology of cities and regions sustainability indexes, applying the final index to investigate the potential long-term economic outputs of Pu Dong, Shanghai. For external validity, I will collect qualitative data via interviews with industry leaders in Pudong to assess their individual business’ sustainability practices, then agglomerate to draw conclusions on how public authorities can design and implement policies to ensure sustainability in their respective cities.

My internship experience at The American Club Foundation (ACF) gives me the opportunity to combine my love for social entrepreneurship with school credit. ACF tackles Hong Kong’s civic and social needs by offering volunteer opportunities at local Hong Kong NGOs, making grants, and building partnerships with social impact funds to use private capital to address societal problems. Working directly with our CEO, Leontine Chuang, I lead new educational opportunities and volunteer activities with our partner NGOs. I have been planning our “Your Voice” series of panel discussions among Hong Kong service leaders, designing our marketing campaigns and website, attending meetings with our partners, and creating a proposal for our long term food waste initiative. Apart from being a major highlight of my senior year, ACF has profoundly impacted my future goals. I have learned how my drive of combating inequalities can be approached from an entrepreneurial angle. I intend to use this invaluable lesson as the basis of my life’s work.
