With a passion for equity in environmental health, education, and the greater movement towards climate justice. I take an intersectional approach to solving problems, using research, art, policy, and community building to inform, inspire, and enact positive change.I lead two volunteer programs focused on water quality education and water quality monitoring as the Stewardship and Education Program Associate with Friends of the Mississippi River. Previously, I was a teaching assistant with USTA Fulbright, working with over 300 high-school-aged students at schools in Carinthia, Austria. My Biology and Environmental research explores water policy and quality in the Twin Cities, MN. My research focuses on water justice in relation to systemic racism and inequalities, such as the discriminatory practice of redlining. I have worked at Sun20TV in New York as an Arts and Culture Videographer and Editor. I worked and volunteered with climate and environmental organizations in Minnesota and Virginia, including Frogtown Green and the Virginia Youth Climate Cooperative. I am an event and project organizer and have published articles in local and national newspapers on topics of education and climate policy issues. As the Club Sports Coach at Macalester College, I prioritized accessibility and community in college sports.I am from the Appalachia region of Southwest Virginia and the Dolomites of Austria. Growing up in a multicultural, multi-ethnic, and multi-lingual home in spaces facing varying environmental harms and injustices has shaped my perspective on the world.
