I started my career in Institutional Advancement in 2004 as a part-time membership sales rep at the American Museum of Natural History. While pursuing my undergraduate degree in theatre, I grew in my knowledge of fundraising, administrative work, and supervisory experience and appreciated what was done to promote and preserve this awesome museum. After multiple promotions in a 20+ year career in the Membership Department, I transitioned to the Operations Department at the AMNH. I was involved in the work of shifting the culture internally, giving the Operations team the tools they needed to give more well-rounded customer service, as they were now responsible for onsite member services and acquisition. I conducted group and individual training sessions and presentations for entry-level staff up to Senior Management. In 2022, I returned to the Membership Department, actively contributing to the creation of data-informed strategies aimed at meeting revenue goals. Armed with extensive frontline experience, I have a firsthand understanding of the desires of visitors and members. This perspective not only shapes our present decision-making processes but also plays a pivotal role in strategic planning for the future. It's a journey that has allowed me to strike a balance between professional growth and a genuine connection with the evolving needs of our audience.
