Electrical Engineering / Software DeveloperI enjoy creating digital media in my spare time such as my Linux webserver and computer games, and all of the learning that comes with taking on these types of projects.My professional experience in software development and engineering began at Teck Resources at first as an engineering intern working with the Asset Health team. There I learned many factors of preventative maintenance, mechanical and electrical failure modes of large assets, and business strategy. I was responsible for both creating and testing alerts using a great variety of data streaming from the on-board sensors of the assets. After my 8 month term on this team, I moved internally to a software development team to work on data pipelines controlling and processing the large throughput of sensor data that I had previously been working with. On this developer team I learned how to work professionally in an Agile environment, with a Scrum master, estimations, retrospectives, sprint and quarterly planning. This is when I also picked up crucial skills in version control using Git, deployment using Terraform and further developed my skills in Python scripting for task automation, and SQL for debugging. We used Databricks which gave me insight into cluster balancing, cost analysis and how to build large data throughput pipelines.
