Currently working as the roadworks manager on the Hwy 91/17 Improvement Project with the Pacific Gateway Constructors GP

This $600M contract includes the construction of five tall concrete structures: a 223’ cleaning tower, a 164’ scale building and three 140’ tall 16-pack silos. The team elected to use a construction method called slip forming due to their height. The work was divided between the assembly of the slips and the slip forming. As part of the assembly, I was leading a group of 20 carpenters and laborers to fabricate and install wooden slip formwork for the cleaning building and to refurbish one of the 16-packs’ slip forms to be re-used on the last 16-pack. This group was also fabricating and installing wooden block outs for the three 16-packs. As part of the slip forming operation, I was tasked to look after the sound installation of the block outs, embeds and rebar on two of the 16-packs and led a group of 20 concrete finishers on the cleaning tower slip.

Led small-size estimates ranging from $5 to 30M and the concrete discipline of larger estimates ranging from $100M to $2B in contract value. Assisted the estimate sponsor with the home office reviews such as tax, insurance, legal, etc. Set up multiple estimates using the Hard Dollar estimating software. Confirmed applicable labour agreements and equipment rates. Managed the sub and supplier tendering process. Conducted bid closeouts. Provided risk analysis.

Worked for the Western Canada District on major transportation and O&G pursuits.

Supported both administrative and construction activities by coordinating the necessary resources for the successful completion of fabrication contracts ($1-5M). Maintained project controls, schedule, and transmitted submittals to the clients for approval. Managed subcontracts, prepared work packs, and completed turnover packages.

Worked as an estimator for Ganotec West, a Kiewit subsidiary.

Managed project controls for the discipline. Coordinated with the survey group and pre-drilling subcontractor to support operations. Assisted the Superintendent with craft supervision and scheduling activities. Produced construction execution plans and supported craft workers.

Moved into a leadership role with scaffolding. Supervised between 25 and 50 scaffolders including general foremen, foremen and scaffold inspectors.

Involved in leading the coordination and installation of scaffolding for work on this large oil sands project, overseeing a team of four to six engineers. I was also involved in cost control activities, reviewing cost reports, timecards, and schedules for accuracy.

Worked out of Kiewit’s Edmonton office, estimating a major highway expansion project. I performed quantity takeoffs, past cost comparisons, geotechnical investigation and other estimating related tasks.

Completed two summer internships at AECOM, drafting preliminary and IFC drawings of several concrete and steel structures as well as earthworks (powerhouses, intake tunnels and transmission lines) using AutoCAD.
