Since 1903 humans have been finding new and innovative ways to defy gravity, that is, to fly. I fell in love with this is idea in my high school rocketry class where we designed, built, and flew rockets to complete different challenges such as taking a one pound payload to an altitude of one mile, and trying achieving a velocity of Mach 1. Since then I have been pursuing my passion by getting an aerospace degree where I learned the engineering behind making things fly. And competing on my University's rocketry team where I got to apply those concepts. During that time I have enjoyed my positions as Manufacturing lead (rocketry), Chief Engineer and Project Manager (rocketry), Geometry-structures lead (senior design), and Research Assistant (internship) for a team focused on composite fracture mechanics.On my final launch as Chief Engineer and Project Manager my team and I created a rocket that achieved an altitude of 9,371 ft (10,000 ft target) and Mach 0.98. After seeing the recording from the onboard camera I knew without a doubt I was pursing the right field.
