At BMW Plant Hams Hall I was given the responsibility of developing and then maintaining new and innovative systems with the aim of streamlining, improving, or revolutionising processes throughout the plant. This involved actively taking part in meetings with both managers and engineers, and then tacking the problems causing the most downtime or loss for the company. Whilst at BMW, I was also given the opportunity to act as project lead for the redesigning of a social space. This involved delegating to multiple teams in the plant, as well as active communication with outside suppliers to acquire items such as custom graphics.My two main projects are BMW were PIQS and PIQS AI:PIQS is a system that indexes, stores and presents images and metrics from BMW's factory line cameras. It provides a platform for analysing camera performance, detecting component errors, and as a tool ensuring targets are met; live. This tool is used by BMW's quality control specialists and is still widely used today by various departments.PIQS AI is an extension to PIQS that automates machine learning model creation and testing. It enables engineers to rapidly generate models for image classification tasks without prior knowledge of how to create a machine learning model, only using their specialised quality control knowledge. It would then continuously improve their accuracy through automatic retraining at set time intervals, or when model performance began to drop.
