I study the forests of Québec to further our understanding of how our planet’s vulnerable ecosystems respond to environmental change. For my graduate studies, I analyse the annual growth rings of trees from old growth forests to retrieve centuries of information about how forests and climate have changed over the past millennium. My sites are found at the alpine tree line on some of the highest mountains in eastern Canada, along with old cedar groves at the foothills of the Appalachian mountains.My interest in environmental science is rooted in my lifelong curiosity of how the environment around us came to be and understanding our role in the ecosystem. I believe a deep understanding of environmental change is essential to help us collectively develop a more harmonious relationship with the planet.I have a background in communications and I love to help others learn about the natural world, how to reconnect with our planet and I love to discuss what it means to live a more sustainable lifestyle and create more sustainable systems. I have developped an interactive educational resource about the science, impacts and the solutions to the climate emergency that I and others have presented in dozens of classrooms and workplaces.
