As the Public Education Specialist and Civilian Fire Inspector, I design, implement, and manage diverse fire and life safety education programs tailored to meet the needs of Appleton's residents and target audiences. Acting as the primary liaison with the media, I handle non-emergency communications, draft press releases, manage the department's social media platforms, and maintain the department’s website.I conduct routine and specialized fire inspections for various occupancies, ensuring compliance with local and state codes while addressing identified risks. My role includes developing lesson plans for all educational levels, organizing special events, and training fire department personnel for public education initiatives.By assessing community needs and building collaborative networks, I create effective strategies to address fire safety challenges. I track educational activities, analyze trends, and evaluate program outcomes, contributing to data-driven decision-making and reporting. Additionally, I assist in recruiting and mentoring firefighters, while maintaining continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in fire prevention and public education.This position combines community engagement, digital communication, and technical fire inspection expertise to protect lives, reduce risk, and enhance public awareness of fire and life safety.
