Many of these projects attained some of the highest 3rd-party verified certifications including Passive House, Net Zero Energy, LEED and Earth Advantage standards. The projects were often complex and unconventional and require a high level of skill and care to execute appropriately with strict timelines and budgets. Alex excelled in the field as a carpenter for us and was also an active member and voice for our Company’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee. His commitment and contributions to the DEI committee helped his teammates see differences as strengths and clear a path for a more equitable and inclusive and thereby enjoyable and productive working environment. As the owner of Green Hammer with 35 employees I certainly do not work with every staff member on a day to day level and indeed Alex reported to our Director of Field services, who reported directly to me. As the owner I do often hear about our top performers and I often was informed of how Alex was a top performer, both very skilled and eager to learn more and almost more importantly able to lift the performance of others around him via his encouragement, hard work ethic, and positive attitude. In a recent raise issued to Alex, our Director of Field services is quoted as saying in the Salary Adjustment form: “Alex has continued to grow and has increased the amount of responsibility he is taking on. Alex has gained a lot of new skills in the last year and has improved leaps and bounds as a carpenter. He can handle most tasks with little to no assistance. He’s becoming a great framer.
