I began my college education thinking I would study astronomy and astrophysics. However, while I was passionate about learning in this field, I could not picture myself working in it. While taking an introductory computer science class, I realized that it came to me easily and I greatly enjoyed the intense problem solving aspect of it. This prompted me to switch my major to computer science. In addition, I decided to minor in creative writing, a more freeing and less demanding pursuit which allowed me to express my creativity, something which I relished.After graduating I spent some time trying to build a startup with some friends. We went through many of the motions involved with starting a company. Including branding, market research, product design and development, marketing, etc. This was a rather short exercise, as we all felt the pressure to find something that would provide us with a more immediate source of income.I then found a job at an insurtech startup where I took on the role of a Customer Success Manager while also preforming a lot of the duties traditionally assigned to a Project Manager. My skills in computer science, as well as my efficient communication skills and creativity all helped me excel in my interactions with our clients, the tech team and the sales team. This resulted in visible and impactful improvements to our products, and in the way that we interact with and sell to our clients.
