I believe responsibility is the key towards achieving common goals. Therefore my opinion is that there should be little or no supervision once someone fully understands how to cope with their tasks. I think that managers have to be able to look at things into perspective in order for them to refine better strategies rather than controlling little parts of the process. Cross functioning teams and fast paced environments reveal that communication is the second best asset a team has to master for the purpose of obtaining alignment. I always take a pragmatic approach when it comes to my tasks and therefore I consistently try to develop and improve anything possible regarding my work related duties.
