I strive to see the connections my students make in their day to day progress- big or small. As a special education teacher in the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District, I provide specially designed instruction and educational service to students in 3rd Grade. My role as a Special Education teacher is to inspire, encourage, and adapt to the needs of the students in my class. At MCPASD, we believe that classroom equity is about ensuring that each student receives the resources they need to be successful members of their surroundings. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education degree in Cross-Categorical Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with an emphasis in Intellectual Disabilities. In the last term of my time at UWW, I completed a service-learning opportunity in Umeå, Sweden. This study abroad experiences increased my knowledge in personalized learning communities, cultural competence, and English as a Second Language development. My long educational history has provided me with many field experiences that have helped develop my educational philosophy into an open-minded concept and Growth Mindset approach. As well as my Master's degree in Professional Development in Special Education with certifications in Autism Specialist, Transition Services, and Advanced Behavior Analysis (ABA).
