Before I started my journey as a registered nurse, I attended University of Maryland with hopes of becoming a physical therapist. As life works out, my plans changed. I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology but I went back to pursue an Associates Degree in Nursing. I quickly followed with a second Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. I started my nursing career during the height of COVID. I learned many things as an ICU nurse that I do not believe I would have had it not been for the pandemic. I took care of patients from suicide attempts, overdoses, strokes, seizures, GI bleeds, renal failure, sepsis, etc. I then left the ICU for the Emergency Department. Here I learned that enjoy caring for patients of all ages and acuity levels. Through my own personal and work experiences, I realized I wanted to be a role in prevention for my community. This pushed me to obtain my Masters of Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner. Now, I am ANCC certified and hopefully making changes in someone’s life.
