My name is Alexa Spears-Sanders and I’m an Administrative Secretary for the University of Texas Medical Branch's Correctional Managed Care (CMC), I have consistently demonstrated my ability to excel within both operational and administrative roles. Since joining CMC-UTMB in 2003, I’ve earned multiple promotions, a testament to my strong work ethic, reliability, and organizational acumen. My experience across various areas has allowed me to showcase my creative problem-solving skills and adaptability.During a period of transition, I was entrusted with managing a team of 10 administrative professionals who supported daily clinic operations for the medical staff. I believe my proactive and compassionate leadership, driven by a genuine desire to help others, led to this opportunity to contribute to facility management. As a former self-employed hairstylist, running my own business not only fueled my passion for artistry and design, but it also provided me with hands-on experience in managing all aspects of a business, from client relations and financial management to marketing and operations. Currently, I juggle multiple projects while working closely with the executive team, a role that has refined my collaboration skills and strengthened relationships across departments. As I pursue both a bachelor's and a master's degree, my long-term goal is to advance into management within UTMB, where I can continue to grow and make a meaningful impact. My ability to think creatively and pivot quickly in a fast-paced environment has been essential to my success, and I'm excited to leverage these skills in future opportunities where innovation and strategic thinking are key.
