Established a common understanding of the collective goal, priorities, and approach. • Coordinated and led a team of 25 scientists (including chemists, physicists, geophysicists, petroleum engineers, electromagnetic theoretical physicists, computational modelers, materials scientists, reservoir engineers, and applied instrument scientists) within 10 departments at 7 universities. • Initiated new subfield of geophysics as a key researcher developing novel concept of engineering nanoparticle inclusions in fluid injection and reservoir flow for new remote sensing modalities.

• Initiated collaboration leading scientists and engineers to design mapping technique for fracture networks in Enhanced Geothermal Systems, employing smart nanoparticle tracers. • Visiting summer scientist in 2012. Bimonthly on-site visits in 2012 and 2013.

As third hire, worked intimately with Project Scientist and Project Manager designing and implementing the startup phase of a 15-year $750 million project to build the largest optical telescope in the world. Engineered optical sensors to capture and analyze images for remote sensing turbulence in the lower layers of the atmosphere. Created processing algorithms to recover and extract information from extremely low signal-to-noise data from image analyzers deployed at the Magellan Telescopes in Chile.

Interfaced University of Michigan’s fiber optic input instrument to the Magellan Telescopes and to a high-resolution spectrometer. Installed fiber optic instrument onto telescope, made technical and mechanical modifications at remote, resource-limited site in Chile. Contributed to the assembly, optical alignment and testing of custom-designed Echelle spectrometer, coordinating deliverables with machine shop technicians, external contractors, and project scientists.

Assisted in conceptual design of high efficiency spectrometer. Fabricated custom set of fiber optics. Developed relationships with external subcontractors and machinists. Defined and communicated technical specifications. Analyzed and compared low signal-to-noise data across the electromagnetic spectrum from space based and ground based observatories.
