Assisted with plan production for a number of project managers in the Storm and Water & Waste Water Groups of WK Dickson. Using AutoCAD Civil3D and GIS, Alex completed tasks such as record drawings, plan markups, GIS figures, and updating the standard details catalog.He prepared and assisted with developing project computations, estimates, surveys, and statistics. Using ArcGIS and HEC RAS, Alex provided flood maps that pertained to specific projects and has provided traffic volumes and storm water runoffs calculations. In addition, he completed lab work for restoration, specifically soil sieve analysis for existing conditions substrate composition. While working with the Storm Water Group, he learned how to make Hydrology and Hydraulics Report Submittals using SWMM and AutoCAD's Storm and Sewer analysis. Equally important, Alex contributed in creating a Regenerative Stormwater Conveyance System model for the largest RSC in the state of NC at the time (Town Creek Culvert in Greenville) that evaluated routing and infiltration losses through the new design. This model was then used to evaluate Total Saturated Flow through the RSC.

As a city inspector, Alex was responsible for monitoring multiple construction project, and communication with the contracting company. Alex learned various aspects of linear construction. Specifically, he worked with large diameter storm drainage, sewage, curb and gutters, re-surfacing, and bridgework. After just half a summer, Alex’s reliability was proven and he was being assigned his own projects and contracts where he monitored construction from start to finish providing daily reports.
