Dr Alex Boyd - PG Cert Ed, PhD, FRSA - has over 25 years professional experience as a plural community entrepreneur specialising in applied eco-embodied culture. Alex is the conceiver and co-founder of the Embodied Research Working Group at IFTR (International Federation for Theatre Research) through which he is Founding Executive Director with Intercultural Roots for Public Health. These are recognised organisations that have a significant global membership.Among other positions, he is honorary Research Associate at the University of California Davis, Department of Theatre and Dance, and is a core member of the Cross Pollination Research Platform. His unique eco-systems and regenerative approach underlie his international consultation work with not-for-profits - having resourced and managed over £10M in community-led research grants - and with universities, research groups and consortia.Alex Boyd's PhD (2015) encompasses the fields of Performance Studies and Critical Education with his auto-ethnographical dissertation entitled “The Sustainability of Traditional Knowledge Systems” centred on what is now over 40 years' learning - and unlearning - through embodied wisdom culture indigenous to China and beyond. His central practice-as-research at Leeds Trinity University co-led to the design, validation and successful delivery of one of the first degree programmes in the west that recognises the learning inherent in eastern embodied practice. Alex is from Irvine on the west coast of Scotland and lives in Ilkley, Yorkshire (UK) with his family.
