Working to the Chief Executive, providing strategic development, future direction and delivery of the portfolio of DTG activities relating to Wireless Technologies, both within and outside the DTG space. Additional responsibilities include the architecture and design of relevant Test Facilities within DTG Testing, with a particular emphasis on developing DTG Testing’s capabilities for testing wireless devices and consultancy on RF technical issues. Key responsibilities include:- Developing, achieving approval of, and delivering the DTG strategy for Wireless Technologies; - Understanding plans for future uses and changes to RF spectrum usage in the UK and how that will affect the organisation’s future business direction;- Representing the DTG in relation to wireless technologies through contributing to and presenting at relevant industry events and working groups; - Creating business cases and supporting documentation for future business needs;- Leading and/or providing expertise to relevant DTG Working Groups;- Development of technical specifications, testing and related developments in Wireless Technologies;- Establishing key working relationships in new business areas.

Responsible for setting up the UK’s first UKAS accredited DAB conformance testing scheme utilising the DTG’s GTEM cell at Vauxhall.Designed and led a project to investigate the impact a range of potential white space device technologies and LTE user equipment signals have on digital terrestrial television receivers. The output of which has formed part of the Ofcom consultation on white space device technologies.Set up at800 LTE filter conformance testing scheme and produced a number of testing reports on LTE and digital TV coexistence.Coordinating and contributing to the DTG’s RF Working Group and Dynamic Spectrum Access Forum which looks at TV white space activities in the UK and internationally.Manage DTG Testing’s RF facilities and ensure conformance to the UK’s accreditation standards.Liaising with industry through attending and presenting at working groups, international seminars and trade events on digital television, mobile technologies and the future use of spectrum.

At the Metropolitan Police I worked on special event planning working on major public events such as the London 2012 Olympics. Work included Tetra network capacity planning, managing faults on both the Tetra radio network and the control room ICCS equipment, working with Airwave and Ofcom to trace interference issues and develop methods of mitigation and carrying out event support either on the event site or at the Metropolitan police command and control centres. As a result of work carried out on developing a network management tool in the run up to the Olympics I received a commendation from the Director of Information at the Metropolitan Police.Other roles and responsibilities included developing and implementing testing plans to ensure network upgrades and fixes were implemented correctly and did not impact the operation of the police communications and overseeing major network upgrades and working with the other forces, Airwave, Ofcom and the Tetra industry on network development and national coordination.

Roles Included:WRAN support engineer for Vodafone, Newbury. Diagnosing network issues, coordinating engineering support, technical consultancy on future network changes.WRAN Integration engineer, Kievstar, Ukraine. Integrating a test 3G network and carrying out HSDPA testing.WRAN Integration engineer, O2 Ireland, Dublin. Working on O2 Ireland 3G network expansion, configiraing base stations, coordinating site engineers, fault finding, drive testing HSDPA and EUL.Software regression test manager, Vodafone Spain, Madrid. Carrying out regression and new feature testing prior to a large software upgrade.Databuild engineer, Hutchinson, Reading. Producing software scripts required to configure base stations being integrated as part of a Hutchison and T-Mobile WRAN share project.

The role was managing the roll out of a 3G network across Ireland consisting of over 100 RBSs. This required producing software scripts, coordinating field engineers, ensuring back haul and core network settings were implemented prior to integration and troubleshooting issues.
