Profile bio

About Alex Burn

I am a senior project manager at Renishaw, with a background in engineering. Currently at Renishaw I manager the creation of new laser alignment products along with fixturing within the Laser Calibration Product Division. Along side this role I also run the departments health and safety. I have a passion to ask the questions of why are we manufacturing in a certain way or why are we making this product. By asking these questions I want to see business grow and look at how and why they do things differently. During my time at Renishaw I have strived to help the teams see other ways to get things done which could very well be quicker and more efficient. This also applies to external companies we work with on projects, in areas winch as compliance and testing. During my time at Dorothea Restorations, which is a traditional skills company that works to restore traditional cast iron structures, water wheels and windmills, brought in and the use of 3D printing for prototyping and pattern making, CNC machining process for manufacture and well as many other digital data collection methods. I also run project teams and manage the companies workshop. During my time at Dyson, I worked across multiple engineering disciplines, from new product innovation, electronics and reliability to manufacturing and infrastructure project management. I have led and managed work packages, teams internally and externally and stakeholders of all business levels.

Listed skills include Nx6, Mechanical Design, Mig Welding, Dust Collection, and 20 others.
