Latest Bio:Alex has worked in Higher Education for more than 15 years as an administrator, consultant,trainer, and presenter in the areas of inclusive leadership, academic affairs and student affairsincluding Residence Life, Student Activities, and Orientation. Over the last seven years, Alexhas been responsible for expanding Diversity, Social Justice, Inclusion and Belongingopportunities and resources for faculty, staff, administrators and students at Wentworth Instituteof Technology, Northeastern University, and currently at Berklee College of Music.Alex has an expertise in the facilitation of training programs as well as performing institutionalscans and program reviews. He has worked with higher education institutions and non-profits ontheir efforts to educate Student Government Associations, Orientation Staff, Student Affairs andAcademic Affairs leadership on equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts. Alex has partnered withfaculty and staff to facilitate workshops on topics such as implicit bias, toxic masculinity, andstereotype threat. Alex has been an active member of NASPA (Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education)since 2005 and has held regional and national roles within the association including NationalCo-Chair for the Gender & Sexuality Knowledge Community (GSKC) and chairing the Region IConference in 2018. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors in his role of RegionalDirector. Alex has been recognized regionally and nationally for his commitment and dedicationto Student Affairs and for the work that he has done through the GSKC as well with Latinx/a/oKnowledge Community.Alex was born in Lima, Peru and moved to the United States when he was 12. As a first-generation college student and son of immigrants, Alex believes that education is a right, not aprivilege. His multiple identities have shaped the way he navigates his personal andprofessional worlds.Outside of work, Alex enjoys exploring new spots to eat, watching his favorite Netflix shows,traveling, attending concerts, plays, and musicals, and spending time with his husband, threekids and two dogs.
