I am happiest when I am helping communities, either through developing knowledge and preparedness for natural hazards and climate change, or helping respond to and recover from disasters. I am a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager, and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society with IBG. My projects are wide ranging across the risk and resilience sector. I am passionate about digital innovation: improving the ways we develop, use and share information, integrating GIS with digital engagement techniques to aid data driven decisions.I find comfort creating process in chaos, often during emergencies. I have worked for and volunteered with differing agencies, including NZ Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) and the NHS Ambulance Service. I have been deployed into varied events, including operational and strategic flood response roles, to Welfare and Lifelines Functions within NZ's National Crisis Management Centre (NCMC). I have developed and delivered incident management training, ranging from Incident Controllers for the Environment Agency to Rapid Response Teams within the Military.
