I am working as a self-employed, freelance medical writer registered in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. I have experience drafting texts for clients in the field of clinical research, liaising with clinical research organisations and pharmaceutical companies. I spent three months as a science policy intern at the Federation of European Academies of Medicine (FEAM).Throughout this internship, I learned a great deal about science policy and diverse topics and issues in this field, the dynamics and collaboration involved in policy, and the interaction required between different biomedical stakeholders. I had responsibilities such as writing summary reports and briefings, compiling background documents, collaborating with stakeholders, and attending stakeholder meetings. This developed my writing, communication, and personal skills, while requiring me to draw on research skills I had developed during my PhD.

I undertook a six month internship at the at the EMBL Australia node for Single-Molecule Science at the University of New South Wales to gain experience in a research environment outside of Europe. My research focus was on investigating the influence of Lewy Body proteins on alpha-synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease.I learned single-moelcule and fluorescence-based techniques which served as the basis for me pursuing a PhD in this field.
