In addition to working full time I have been purchasing, rehabilitating, and selling or renting residential real estate. I plan and manage every aspect of renovation for distressed houses, including identifying potential properties, analyzing the financial feasibility of a project, designing the floor plan and finishes, sourcing materials, managing a team of subcontractors, and marketing the finished product for sale or rent. While living in Iowa, I completed four major rehab projects, sold two renovated homes, and rented out 6 units. Now in New York, I continue to oversee management of rental properties in Iowa.

I started working full-time at John Deere in their Agriculture and Turf Engineering Development Program (EDP). The EDP program allowed me to rotate through three different positions over my first two years with the company. 8R Chassis Engineering (June 2012 - December 2012)I was responsibility for the design of various chassis components and durability build support for the Final Tier 4 (FT4) 8R tractor program. 7R and 8R Tractor Marketing (January 2013 - August 2013)I created the ballast calculators for all large tractor programs with a focus on a common user interface, led the design and manufacture of CommandArm and display simulators, and supported the MY14 dealer introduction event showcasing the new 7R and 8R tractors.User Experience (September 2013 - April 2014)I designed the user interface framework for a reconfigurable QVGA (320 x 240 pixel) primary display. This design has been adopted by mid-spec combines, 5R and 6M tractors, and windrower machines. I also conducted user research on the harvesting grain loss monitor, which led to my complete redesign of the system and a patent for the new interface.

The Buckle Blocker mission is to improve the safety of children and ease the stress of driving. The main goal of Buckle Blocker is to reduce child deaths related to motor vehicle accidents, by helping prevent in-car distractions for the driver. The Buckle Blocker child restraint system is designed to prevent premature seat belt release. The Buckle Blocker works by covering the seat belt release button and provides too much resistance for a child to disengage. I interned at GHSP for three summers. My final rotation focused on engineering management applications and forecast analysis. During my previous two summer internship rotations at GHSP, I worked with the Honda engineering team focusing on AT shifter controls. Past projects included the 2010 Accord, 2010.5 Pilot, and the 2011.5 Civic. Additionally, I led the design and testing of a fixture to produce surrogate data for the frictional system between the artificial feel gauge and detent spring.

I was employed by Michigan Tech's Housing and Residential Life as one of two Resident Assistants for the First-Year Experience Learning Community. The First-Year Experience Learning Community (FYE) houses 78 residents and focuses on creating successful individuals through academics, personal development, and social involvement. I was awarded Programmer of the Year for all of the housing staff at Michigan Tech.

The Michigan Tech Lode is a student run newspaper that has been serving the campus community since 1921. Previous to holding this position, I worked as the Photo Editor during the 2008-2009 school year.
