I am Alex Drew, a passionate human rights advocate and physiotherapist with a keen passion for creative solutions to humanitarian problems. I have a specific interest in humanitarian dialogue, detention advocacy & health, child rights, and refugee rights.I am currently working alongside the Red Cross as a humanitarian observer as part of the Immigration Detention Monitoring Program here in Victoria. This follows work with Human Rights Watch and Airwars on investigating civilian casualties from airstrikes in Ukraine, Syria, and Gaza. I also lead an incredible team at Evolutio Sports Physio in Melbourne, following work as a Physiotherapist in multiple settings and locations, including Iran and Hong Kong, over the past 15 years with a specialisation in powerlifters, CrossFit athletes and Olympic lifters. I love the creative side of the business, analysing future healthcare trends and developing a team of exceptional practitioners.During this time, I've also worked in Bushfire recovery operations across Victoria and Western Australia in Project and Emergency Management, leading small amazing teams in disaster recovery operations following intense bushfires and floods across the states in 2021 and 2022.Prior to this, I was responsible for training soldiers for peacekeeping operations in the Solomon Islands and East Timor with Defence as an Infantry Platoon Commander.
