Developing a No One Dies Alone program, where college undergraduates, medical students, and residents will sit with dying hospital patients that have no family in the area. Conducting the return on investment for a new advanced care planning tool called Lumināt and disseminating this tool using social media.

Offered caring and personalized support to terminally ill patients and respite to primary care givers. Common weekly activities included letter and memoir writing, movie watching, card and board game playing, and, most importantly, non-judgmental listening. Organized informational end-of-life care performances and lectures for students and the community.

Operated the grill and the salad bar, restocked ingredients, and swept the floor. Worked with upper management to fulfill complex orders under tight time constraints

Researched the effect of 17β-estradiol on the differentiation and regeneration of hematopoietic stem cells in zebrafish. Used fluorescent in situ hybridization, fluorescence-activated cell sorting, genotyping, and zebrafish kidney marrow dissection. Cleaned, fed, and mated zebrafish for experiments

Painted sheds, mowed lawns, laid slate, washed decks, and watered gardens. Organized hours and pay with individual clients

Investigated STAT5’s role in regulating cytokine induced microRNAs associated with acute myeloid leukemia. Determined target microRNAs using Targetscan and miRbase prediction algorithms. Performed microRNA extractions and real-time quantitative PCR. Produced an abstract and gave numerous presentations on the results of my research.

Studied the cytotoxic and genotoxic effects of hexavalent chromium on the skin and lung cells of bowhead whales and human. Carried out chromosome damage experiments, growth curve assays, cytotoxicity assays, western blots, and ion uptake experiments. Trained on the safe use and disposal of radioactive compounds. Published three abstracts related to my research.
