Ottawa's raceway is transitioning into an internationally known casino. As such, a strong marketing team is required to assist both the staff and the guests in this long-term development. My role at the Rideau Carleton Casino, future Hard Rock Ottawa focuses on events and communication. Day-to-day activities include:- Conducting and presenting market research to the executive management team;- Continuous communication with vendors and suppliers regarding the planning and execution of monthly promotions, including decorating companies, promotional gifts and prizing;- Assisting in developing and maintaining the social media platforms, website, and in-house communications both internally and externally;- Creating in-house visual collateral and written communication for both guest-facing and internal promotions, events, and announcements;- Implementing the re-design and updates of the telephone line to better direct guest calls;- Responding to guest inquiries, comments, and issues via telephone, email, and social media messages;- Receiving and tracking sponsorship requests to present to the Sponsorship Committee, and once approved, executing the delivery of donations;- Managing the coordination and execution of fundraisers and client-based events on-site;- Adhering to workplace health and safety procedures and policies.

My main tasks were to hire, train, and manage marketers and painters to perform top quality painting services to houses in the region. As well, I helped canvass around the area, getting leads for future jobs, and conducted free estimates for homeowners interested in painting and/or staining the interior and/or exterior of their homes.
