This involved designing comprehensive Measurement of Effectiveness studies to determine the effect of ISAF messaging campaigns as well as monitoring the full media spectrum, actions of key communicators in the region, and conducting qualitative and quantitative research.

Provided overall management of the Measurement of Effectiveness program examining US State Department funded media content and reporting its impact on Afghan individuals and society through determining if a target audience is being reached and if the primary messages of the media are understood. Primary responsibilities were to formulate research objectives, coordinate and oversee the design and implementation of qualitative and quantitative research projects, including a comprehensive nationwide poll of ten-thousand participants, and manage and task a network of Afghan local nationals providing media monitoring and surveying of the Afghan population. Served as the primary interface with the client responsible for tracking progress and deliverables, presenting findings, and producing comprehensive quarterly reports.

Part of a forward deployed Social Science Research Analysis team of the Human Terrain System which met critical information requirements through innovative research approaches which guarantee the collection and analysis of highly sensitive population focused data, while protecting the safety and anonymity of respondents. Responsibilities included the development of comprehensive Research Collection Plans which utilized the full spectrum of research methods -- surveys, focus groups, depth interviews, and expert networks -- and to task and train indigenous Field Research Teams and other research assets in support of client information requirements. Further responsibilities included the conduct of methodologically sound social science analysis of collected research to determine the implications and trends the data reveal and produce written reports and briefings on research findings that offered a comprehensive view of local perceptions and atmospherics.

Provided management of, and participation within, Information Effects Support Teams required to collect, evaluate, analyze, and integrate often time-sensitive information in support of operations, planning, and decision-making being carried out by the Government of Canada. Further responsibilities involved designing Information Collection Plans, implementing field-collection operations, producing written and oral reports for the presentation and interpretation of findings, as well as training and developing junior staff members.

Kandahar, Afghanistan

Primarily responsible for all human-derived information collection and fusion gathered by Task Force Kandahar assets. Information was routinely evaluated for reliability and accuracy and processed into threat warnings, to protect field personnel, and analytical products to support higher-formation planning processes. Ethnographical inquiry was infused in the development of a collection plan to guide Task Force assets through the collection of pertinent socio-cultural data to increase situational awareness on local dynamics. Provided advisement on potential courses of action in ongoing operations and regular liaison with other ISAF elements to fuse findings in the development of a comprehensive picture of the operational environment.
