About Alexei Trundle
Alexei Trundle is Associate Director (International) of the Melbourne Centre for Cities, and is the Melbourne Postdoctoral Fellow for the University of Melbourne's Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning. His current research focuses on the way that cities are contributing to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as urban climate resilience and adaptation planning in Pacific Small Island Developing States.From 2016-2020 Alexei was the Future Cities Coordinator at the Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute. Prior to this he was employed at RMIT University's Global Cities Research Institute, where he managed a number of climate change adaptation research projects across the Asia-Pacific region. He has led development of an Urban Resilience and Climate Adaptation Plan for Honiara, capital of the Solomon Islands, and Port Vila, Vanuatu, and has an interest in the development of integrated climate change adaptation methodologies.Alexei is a Scientific Advisor to the UN-Habitat Cities and Climate Change Initiative in the Pacific region and is a Steering Committee member of the Pacific Urban Partnership. Previously Alexei was a Research Associate at the United Nations Global Compact Cities Programme and a Visiting Scientist at the United Nations University in Bonn, Germany. His doctoral studies were based at the Australian-German Climate & Energy College, examining how informal settlements in Pacific Small Island Developing States interacted with Climate Resilient Development initiatives in post-disaster settings.
