May 2021 - October 2021As a member of the database team, I'm working on ensuring our application database code is performant and fast. We're looking at new ways to test our database related code automatically against production data. Additionally, working as a database maintainer I review code to ensure it meets our code and performance standards before it's merged to the code.April 2020 - May 2021As a member of the Geo team, I worked on data replication and disaster recovery tooling within the GitLab enterprise product. I also worked on the instance backup feature which is a part of the open source product.Sep 2019 - April 2020As a member of the Configure/System team, I helped define and build our initial implementation of a terraform backend and getting terraform information into merge requests. I also worked on serverless integrations with knative and building templates and examples that leverage the serverless in gitlab ci.

Served as the team lead for the emerging products team. Our team worked in a combination of Kotlin, Ruby/jRuby on Rails, React, and Java. We're building apps on top of Kafka stream processors and other fun stuff. Day to day I spend part of my time making individual contributions and part of my time helping others get stuff done as a team lead.- Coordinated development efforts and helped architect a new data integration service to combine and process data traditionally separate applications.- Pushed more apps to do even more pre-deploy and pre-merge testing- Started an open source project, RoboPigeon, to automate slack, jira, and gitlab integrations as a part of CI pipelines.- Assisted other teams in implementing, and advocated for continuous delivery and integration practices.- Removed manual interactions in deployments our team works on, speeding up deploy processes and moving towards a continuous delivery model.- Worked to break down knowledge pillars both within the team and across teams.- Delivered a new UI for a product that was previously API only. Worked as a software engineer on the emerging products team. Our team is responsible for a number of smaller, newer services as well as some greenfield product development. Primarily worked in Ruby/JRuby (Rails) and Java applications.- Migrated app testing to do more before deployments, helping developers get faster feedback loops- Overhauled the a major portion of an application to make it more performant.- Wrote code for countless features and bug fixes.

September 2015 - January 2016: Platform Engineering - This team is primarily devoted to completing features for the CrashPlan server product. I worked on a variety of features, but ended up doing mostly more work on the crashplan client build project.June 2014 - September 2015: Continuation Engineering - This team, sometimes called Engineering Support, was responsible for emergency fixes, maintenance, and app deployment in our cloud environment. While there I architected and implemented a new system to simplify and automate our software build process. I also started working on the CrashPlan client application and ran a similar effort there. I automated unit testing for our CrashPlan client. I also worked on a number of features for the CrashPlan client.August 2013 - June 2014: Cloud Services Engineer - Mostly this team was responsible for our database synchronization, however we also worked on a number of the core services in our enterprise cloud application. Helped organize testing efforts around our hybridized public/private cloud solution.

I design and develop web projects and products for clients. This includes website development and web application development.

As the IT Coordinator for ILI, I oversaw all of the technological needs for the organization. My small staff (one other) and I would work on all of the day to day needs of the organization.
