Dreams really can come true! Who would have thought, 15 years ago, prior to me applying for the PGA Degree at Birmingham University, that for the next decade I will be creating golf videos on the internet for many to watch. It all started, like many, with a dream of making it on the PGA Tour but the realisation of how good you had to be quickly made me think “AL, you can’t putt”. But here I sit, laptop in one hand, content script in another and I wouldn’t change my job for anything. Being a content creator for me is so refreshing. You start with a blank canvas (a video idea) and it’s how good you can make that idea come to life. Sometimes you do it well, other times, well, my mum will tell me she still liked it. Over the years, I’ve developed many wonderful skills that have got me to where I am today. Sounds cliche, but building blocks and all that. My early development was as a PGA Assistant at Golfsupport, Nottinghamshire. Where it was here that I understand the online retail side and all the moving pieces behind the scenes that’s required for an Ecommerce company and all the logistics to go with it. I really started to crave success in different roles in the business from Customer Service, Golf Lessons, Packing & Shipping and the only that got me the most: SEO, Digital Marketing & Social Media. My next step was moving to Australia, working for a fantastic company called GolfBox. Again, to prove my worth I went through various roles with a Social Media Manager & Content Creation position being the goal, I had a spell developing personal skills in the bricks and mortar stores of an online business before inevitably working my way to a desk. These years really paved the way to my final realisation that my “happy place” was in fact in front of a Canon DSLR. 9+ years on from a nervous boy arriving on the shores of Australia, I’ve been named the biggest voices in Australian Golf by Golf Digest, a mention in Forbes Magazine and a YouTube Channel of 100,000+ subscribers with a million+ views a month. From filming a mainstream golf series for Channel 7 to working with major golf brands on projects. My journey has only just started and I’m open to work with businesses on the channel.
