I’m the founder and Executive Director of Larger Us (www.larger.us), which works to inspire and support change-makers to use psychology to bridge divides, build broader coalitions and bring people together - an approach we call 'larger us change-making', and I also write a Substack called The Good Apocalypse Guide (https://alexevansuk.substack.com/p/welcome-to-the-good-apocalypse-guide).Larger Us works through researching ideas, running trainings, and building partnerships with organisations who want to apply our ideas in their campaigns. Right now we're working with partners like the Women's Institute, UNISON, Wildlife Trusts and Parents For Future to train their members and supporters to have climate conversations as a way to build a broader and deeper mandate for climate action - more on that at https://www.desmog.com/2023/05/15/breaking-the-silence-on-climate-change/ or https://larger.us/ideas/everything-you-need-to-know-about-our-climate-conversations-project/.I'm a Visiting Professor in Practice at Newcastle University's School of Arts and Cultures (www.ncl.ac.uk/sacs/), a Senior Fellow at New York University's Center on International Cooperation (www.cic.nyu.edu), and the author of The Myth Gap: What Happens When Evidence and Arguments Aren't Enough? (Penguin, 2017), a book about the power of deep stories to unlock systemic social and political change and how to address a world of increasing them-and-us identity. Until March 2018, I was a Campaign Director at Avaaz, where I ran campaigns on areas including Brexit, tax havens, humanitarian assistance, and human rights. I've done various stints as a political adviser, including for two UK Secretaries of State for International Development and in the UN Secretary-General's office, published research with think tanks including Brookings, Chatham House and IPPR, and consulted for organisations from Oxfam to the US National Intelligence Council.
Listed skills include International Development, Climate Change, Change Management, Humanitarian Assistance, and 18 others.
