About Alex Gallafent
I help clients, teams, and individuals imagine and achieve goals that address people’s deepest needs and meet their highest aspirations. A senior leader at IDEO, I tell powerful stories within and about our work, including around designing for the Climate Era and for emerging technologies; design extraordinary brands, experiences, products, and services; build healthy, self-aware creative cultures; and empower others to advance progress through memorable conversations and convenings.I'm on faculty at IDEO U, where I teach the Impactful Presentations course. I also represent IDEO through speaking and teaching engagements, especially at the intersection of narrative, design thinking, and journalism. Since joining IDEO, I’ve worked with major clients in media, government, civic innovation, financial empowerment, hospitality, financial services, and more. I helped found and direct Palmwood/Dubai Design Lab, IDEO’s multi-year creative partnership with the UAE Government, and I’ve taught design and creativity at institutions including NYU, the New School, and the School of Visual Arts in New York. A former correspondent for US public radio and the BBC World Service, I reported across the world on social justice, conflict, culture, public health, the climate crisis, and more. I was a staff producer/reporter with the BBC in London and a Fellow at the International Reporting Project in Washington, DC (SAIS/Johns Hopkins).
