About Alex Gibson Fmii
Currently Fellow at the Enterprise Academy. As Head of Digital Marketing, Technological University Dublin, I am responsible for the academic management of undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education courses in the Digital Marketing discipline across TU Dublin. I have a strong practical and entrepreneurial approach to marketing: I founded one of Europe's fastest growing immersive technology and spatial computing conferences, I have held executive roles in the food and hotel sectors in the UK with global players such as Holiday Inn and Danone, as well as a spell as an independent hotel consultant, and I have a passion to take current trends into the classroom. I host a weekly radio show on Dublin City Fm - The Persuaders - where I interview national and international marketing leaders. Today my research interests centre on how Augmented and Virtual Reality technologies can be harnessed by the marketing community to build superior brand engagement. I have spoken at many academic and industry conferences on this topic. I have also taken an active role in scientific committees for academic conference in the AR and VR space. In 2017 I was invited to become AR and VR advisor to TechIreland - this organisation's role is to curate data on Ireland's technology eco-systems. In 2014 I founded the ARVR INNOVATE Conference and Expo - the conference takes place each May in Dublin ( next conference is in May 2025 ). I am also active on AR research projects in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University, Dublin City Council, Failte Ireland, Advantage Austria, and the National Museum of Ireland.
