About Alex Giorgio
I am passionate about libraries, archives, research, museums, and community engagement. In my current role as the City Branch Manager at St. Joe County Public Library, I oversee the daily operations, staff, and programming of a busy and diverse branch on the northwest side of South Bend. I have also served on several committees, such as Of/By/For All, One Book, One Michiana Selection & Programming, Adult Programming, Staffing, and Reader’s Advisory, to enhance the library's services and outreach to the community. Additionally, I co-hosted The Library Variety Show Podcast, where I shared my insights and opinions on various library, literary, and pop culture-related topics and trends.I am also a graduate student at IU Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at IUPUI, pursuing my Master of Library & Information Science degree (online, asynchronous), with an expected graduation date of May 2024.I have a Master of Liberal Studies Degree from Indiana University South Bend (Thesis: "Search for the Wicked Witch: Margaret Hamilton & the Cultural Legacy of the Wicked Witch of the West) and a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies with a concentration in Arts & Humanities, also from Indiana University South Bend. I also have an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Human Services from Ivy Tech Community College. I have been working in the public library sector for over two years. Before finding my place in libraries, I took time off after receiving my bachelor's degree to participate in several political campaigns and to run for public office in 2019 and was endorsed by the group Run for Something.Member: American Library Association, Indiana Library Federation
