About Alex Glow

At Hackster.io, I create approachable but polished electronics tutorials, hardware unboxings, and interviews.I do my best to promote sustainable and ethical approaches to technology, with these cues:- Make the most beneficial actions convenient and cool.- Reduce paralysis by making useful info available, easily understandable, and more emotionally approachable.- Empower potential changemakers by sharing MANY approaches – so we can all harness our individual skills and passions for good as part of a functional, long-term lifestyle. My passions include electronics, music, human languages, brain-hacking, wearables, holography, and more.I've been building companion bots and custom, beautiful, low-waste PCB tools. My favorite projects are Archimedes, my AI robot owl familiar; “Spinning Up”, a song (plus invented music notation system) that orbited Earth on a solar-powered satellite; and my Ouija planchette-inspired ESP8266 programmer PCB, which doubles as an earring. I also produce short-form videos for social media, several of which have over a million views.I grew into hardware as a FIRST Robotics team member, then as a director of the AHA and Noisebridge hackerspaces and an Artist in Residence at Autodesk's Pier 9.
