As a tenure-track assistant professor, I was principle investigator to a research laboratory focused on investigating and manipulating host-pathogen interactions toward the development of improved treatment strategies for infectious disease. I conceptualized and guided said research program, mentored several doctoral candidates and undergraduates, and supervised day-to-day operations. I also taught undergraduate Organic Chemistry and graduate Organic Reactions courses, engaged in departmental and university service, and contributed to outreach.

As a Cancer Research Training Award (CRTA) postdoctoral fellow in the Chemical Biology Laboratory, I worked with Dr. Martin Schnermann to develop and apply novel near-infrared fluorescent small molecules for cancer imaging and drug delivery. Our work led to the first light-activated antibody-drug conjugate, which demonstrated improved selectivity in alleviating in vivo tumor burden.

As a doctoral candidate in the Department of Chemistry at Georgetown University, I worked with Prof. Paul Roepe to investigate the pharmacological drivers of drug resistance in Plasmodium falciparum malaria. Our work involved determining how structure-function principles are altered in drug resistant vs. drug-sensitive parasites, and applying that knowledge to the discovery of novel antimalarial agents through rationale synthetic design and high throughput screening.
