Remuv builds appliances for developing and connecting open architecture solutions for distributed control systems that need to be prepared for the future. Whether that future is IIoT integration or equipment upgrades. Today's controls & automation technologies tightly couple software and hardware. Systems and the protocols they speak do not promote an interoperable factory floor. Remuv has unbundled traditional PLC and DCS technologies by opening the software stack. As the Founder and Lead System Architect I was responsible for everything from product development to delivery. Along the way I was active in the following capacities:+ Sourced, interviewed, and mentored technical development team (Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, Full-Stack Engineers, and Designers).+ Developed technical specifications and implemented system architecture including services for dynamic configuration, agnostic data ingestion (northbound IIoT & southbound fieldbus connectivity), historical data, edge-based predictive data analytics, and control algorithm execution. + Designed and implemented Data Distribution Service (DDS) data interfaces to establish federated system architecture. + Designed requirements for data-driven API for building open architecture Distributed Control System (DCS) solutions on commodity hardware (SBC). + Led team to achieve microsecond clock speeds for control app execution for motion control applications. + System achieved 70% cost reduction over incumbent DCS vendor quote (Rockwell Automation).+ Developed relationships with Oil and Gas industry leaders.+ Assembled pitch decks and delivered technical overviews for sales meetings, technical deep dives, and lectures.

NOVOS is NOV’s flagship drilling rig operating system promising to deliver process automation and optimized drilling efficiency using third party apps. Worked directly under Chief System Architect on Mission Control team, responsible for delivering core OS functionality. + Implemented manual override controller interface, enabling driller capabilities to use joystick to interact with automated processes+ Designed and maintained interfaces for objective-state design pattern in common repository to be utilized by multiple development teams+ Developed Data Distribution Service (“DDS”) wrappers to be used by multiple development teams to simplify agile integration efforts+ Led development projects across multiple teams to implement third party application interfaces+ Led integration cycles for major and minor releases, working alongside QA team to confirm and close out bugs and optimize UX+ Redesigned process layer for drilling activity automation
